Middlebury def. Woodstock, 5-0 (Jan. 18, 2023)

Midddlebury, VT – Neutral Zone and a good crowd was on hand to see the Middlebury Tigers skate past the Woodstock Wasps by a score of 5-0.

Middlebury put pressure on Woodstock early in the first period but was unable to get the puck past freshman goalie #1 Dominic Palazzo.  Woodstock settled into the game about mid-way through the frame and play was pretty balanced for the reminder of the period. Woodstock’s #22 Griffin Piconi had a partial breakaway towards the end of the period, releasing a hard shot from the top of the left circle but Tiger’s goalie TJ Baron #30 was equal to the task of making a nice save. The period ended scoreless.

In the second period, Middlebury came out with purpose and was able to score three times. About 5 minutes into the period, Midddlebury defenseman #6 Cole Schnoor blasted a shot from the point past Palazzo.  #17 Toby Draper and #13 Jake Kadar assisted on that goal. The Tigers got their second goal during a Woodstock power play, where Toby Draper was able to feed #23 Kellan Bartlett to post the shorthanded goal. Towards the end of the period, Middlebury got their 3rd goal on an unassisted breakaway by Draper who placed a nice shot to beat Palazzo.

Middlebury was able to score two more times in the third period to put the game out of reach for Woodstock. Scorers for the Tigers were #14 Landon Kean and #7 Iver Anderson.  Cole Schnoor got the helper on the Anderson goal to seal the deal for Middlebury.
