Noble & Greenough stays undefeated vs St. George's

Game Recap


First Period: Both teams came out strong but nobles ultimately pushed the pace of play and hemmed St. George’s in their own end for the majority of the period. Goaltender Mia Gardner faced a lot of shots early and stopped all shots but one. St George’s went onto the power play early in the frame ad created some great scoring opportunities including a near goal from Mary Leys #22. Nobles’ Emma O’Leary opened the scoring with a beautiful forehand backhand deke that she was able to slide under Gardner’s right pad. 

Second Period: Nobles came out strong and ent to work in the offensive end, showing off their forward skill and patience with the puck. St. George’s Mia Gardner stayed consistent in the net, helping her team stay in the game. Nobles put two quick goals in the net, the first off of a power play. #13 Kaley Macdonald wired a snapshot from the point and #9 Ellie Bayard was there to bury the rebound. Just under two minute later, the Bulldogs #4 Kate Ham buried a shot from the left side circle, making the score 3-0. 

Third Period: St. George’s found their third gear in the final frame and was able to establish consistent pressure on Nobles in their own end. They were able to start cycling the puck down low and scored their first of the game off of a point shot from #22 Mary Leys  whose rebound was buried by #9 Caroline Froio. Nobles respondedless than a minute later with a goal from #10 Katie Pyne. St. George’s  capitalized on their opportunities, creating scoring chances off of turnovers, including their second goal of the. Game from #26 Katie Keenan who stripped a Nobles Defenceman of the puck on the offensive zone blue line and scored on the breakaway. St. George’s maintained their pressure but Nobles held them off to win 4-2.
