Harrington Invitational Tournament Day 1 Recap

Lawrence vs. Nobles – Nobles started the game with a goal by Katherine Payne 30 seconds after the opening face off setting the the tone for the remainder of the game. Lawrence was unable to mount any sustained offence with the Nobles forecheck keeping the puck deep in the Lawrence zone. Nobles scored within the first minute of the remaining periods and added more in each frame. Late in the 3rd period Alyssa Berardine of Lawrence found the back of the Nobles net with a seeing eye wrister, through traffic from the point. Nobles 7 Lawrence 1

St. Mark’s vs. Westminster – The first and second periods saw the teams trade goals in hard fought but back and forth game with much of the play battling it out in the net trail zone it was 2-2 at the end of the second. Midway through the third Westminster’s Jenny Guider scored the go ahead goal, St Marks was not able to to find the equalizer. Olivia Fernandez put it out of reach chasing down a clearing shot and stuffed in the empty net.
Goal scores for Westminster were Taylor Adams, Emma Gurnell, Jenny Guider and Olivia Fernandez. Avery McInerny potted both goals for St Marks.

Westminster vs. Nobles – Throughout the game Westminster battled hard but were unable to sustain significant zone time in Nobles end. When they did have chances Nobles goaltender Taylor Hyland made the big stops. Nobles first goal was cored by Katherine Pyne her 3rd in the tournament and their second goal scored by Emerson O’Leary, also her 2nd of the tournament. Nobles 2 Westminster 0

Westminster plays at 2:30 tomorrow in Milton against Lawrence. Nobles takes on St Marks at 2:30 in Milton

St Marksย  vs. Lawrence – After two periods the game remained scoreless. There were end to end chances but both goalies Lydia Rascher- St Marks and Ava DiVincenzo-Lawrence were flawless making big stops on breakaways and keeping the score neat in the crease.
The third period didn’t change things, so to OT! About one minute in Jenna Seibold let a wrister go from the point and it found its way to the back of the net! Lawrence 1 St. Marks 0

BB&N vs. Williston – This was tight checking game with two hard working fast skating teams. With a slight edge to Williston it was still 0-0 at the end of the first period. The second started much the same as the first until Willist’s Bryn Saarela took a pass in full stride at the blue line, split the D and went forehand, backhand, shelf for the games 1st goal.
Midway through the third BB&N found their second wind and kept the pressure on with several near misses but 20 seconds after pulling their goali, Emily Crovo battled for a loose puck and scored an empty netter. One minute laterMadison Cardaci scored Williston’s 3rd to put the game out of reach. Williston 3 BB&N 0
