KUA    3    Groton    0

Both teams had solid performances tonight. KUA was able to put the puck in the net with their speed and crafty forwards. In a last attempt Groton pulled their goal with 3 minutes left to play to try to make a dent in the 2 goal deficit. However, KUA would get an empty netter and clinch the victory 3-0.

Rivers    7    Millbrook    1

Rivers offensive talent was no match for Millbrook. Rivers controlled most of the play and dominated all three periods. Millbrook did take a timeout halfway through the game after letting in a few quick goals. They came back a new team, tightening up their defensive zone and making Rivers work for every inch. Rivers would get the win 7-1.

Deerfield    1    Cushing    0

Cushing and Deerfield squared off in the championship game of the Watkins Invitational. It was a very exciting championship game with back and forth play and plenty of chances on either side. Deerfield’s Caroline Skillman would net the only goal of the game to take the 1-0 victory over Cushing. Cushing fought hard to tie it up but were unable to put one past Deerfield’s netminder.

Southfield    4    Groton    1

Southfield dominated the play, working well as one unit. They were quick to break out of their own end and got quality scoring chances often. While Groton played hard they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Worcester    2    Winchendon    1

Worcester and Winchendon faced off in the 3rd place game of the Watkins Tournament. A scoreless first and second period produced an evenly paced back and forth game. Unlucky for Winchendon, Worcester opened up the scoring with quick goals less than a minute and half into the third. Winchendon answered back with a rebound goal, but could not tie it up. The game ended 2-1 for Worcester, as they collected their 3rd place trophy.

Berwick    3    KUA    2

A close game filled with offensive chances for both teams. A injury in the first period caused a delay, however both teams came out ready to go in the second period, where most of the scoring took place. Berwick was able to hold on to the lead for the remaining period even through several quality attempts from KUA.

New Hampton    4      Culver    3  (OT)

A back and forth game that went into OT. New Hampton was the more offensively dangerous team throughout the game, but Culver played a strong team game to hold New Hampton to a 3-3 tie to send the game into an extra frame. Halfway through the overtime period, New Hampton’s Lauren DeBlois sunk her second of the game, going bar down for the 4-3 win.

Thayer    6    Millbrook    1

Thayer dominated the play for all three periods. Millbrook did get their chances but were unable to produce while Thayer worked to get the puck to the net and behind the goaltender. Thayer had a quick forecheck, leading to a short handed goal at the end of the second period.  Thayer would take the win 6-1.

Northwood    2     Berkshire    1

This was a relatively evenly matched 4th place game. Northwood dominated much of the offense for the first and second periods while Berkshire was able to control the offensive force for the third. There was strong goaltending on each side. The final score was 2-1 with the top corner game winning goal coming from Northwood’s Marina Alvarez with only 1:46 remaining in the game.
