Winchendon played host to Northfield Mount Hermon this Friday night. Sophomore goalie Hope Walinski got the start for Winchendon while sophomore Ruby Powers was in net on the visitor’s end. The first period would end scoreless, with the home team getting the majority of offensive chances. NMH did get a few dangerous chances, putting Walinski to the test but were unable to put one past her.
Winchendon would open up the scoring in the second period. Netting 3 goals in the last 6 minutes of ther period. Kiley Mastel would steal the puck from a NMH defender deep in their zone, get a breakaway opportunity and putting it past the goalie right above her pad. The second goal would come at 4:36, Grace Fitzgerald would put in a rebound goal off of a point shot from Isabelle Frenette. The last goal of the period would again come from Mastel, from Kaylen Taddia who made an impressive spin move to protect the puck while creating space for Mastel and moving the puck to her tape.
NMH would get 5 minutes penalty late in the third and Winchendon would capitalize 3 times off of the man advantage. Mastel would complete her hat trick with a cross ice pass into an open net. And then again a minute last with a quick shot from the dot. Zoe Tow would net the final goal with 3:14 left to play off off a scrum in front.
