Deerfield defeats St. Mark’s in OT

December 1st- 3:30pm

St. Mark’s hosted Deerfield. Sophomore Erin Murray would get the start in net for St. Mark’s and not let anything past her, while senior Jordan Manning on Deerfield would be in the visitors net. Both goalies played well and saw several quality shots in the first period of play. Their efforts kept the game scoreless.

Scoring opened up in the second period, with St. Mark’s Lauren Tolve getting a rebound goal off of a point shot with 14:54 left in the period. St. Mark’s would capitalize on an other shot from the point. Bailey Horne would get her shot through traffic and past the goalie unseen with 8:55 left to go. Deerfield would answer back with 5:48 remaining in the period with a well positioned Mae Emerson tipping in a shot from the point.

With 11:23 left in the regulation, Aurora Devereaux would tie up the game for Deerfield. Sending the game into overtime, Deerfield would complete their comeback with 2:34 left with a goal from Lisa Ito-Bagshaw assisted by Ali Fujiyoshi.

Deerfield coach Brook Fernandez, “Deerfield fought hard in all three periods. I was really proud of our entire team for their effort and grit to come back from a two goal deficit to win in overtime. Though we still have a lot to work on, you can’t ask for more than a team that works hard and has fun doing it!”
