Hockey has been at the core of Deerfield's culture since the program's inaugural season in 1922. The rich history of the program includes numerous New England Championships, the most recent coming in 2003. Part of the Housatonic League, the boys varsity team plays a 25-game schedule that consistently ranks among the toughest schedules in New England. Every December the team participates in the Flood-Marr Holiday Tournament held outside of Boston. Deerfield won the 2016 Flood-Marr, defeating Nobles, KUA, and Milton in route to the championship.

Deerfield recently opened a new state-of the art athletic facility in October 2018. The new space includes multiple film rooms, a dedicated shooting and goalie training space, as well as redesigned and expanded coaches and players locker rooms.
