West Roxbury, MA-The Roxbury Latin Foxes hosted the St. George’s Dragons in a late afternoon tilt in Hennessy Rink. 2024 Evan Zhang started in the net for the Foxes while 2024 Matthew DellaRusso got the nod for St. George’s. The first period was mostly uneventful with no goals scored. Donovan Frias (Yale) had a quality chance as he drove the net in the middle of the period. Roxbury Latin’s best chance came with time running out as Will Matthews took a Connor Berg (Williams) pass on the power play and fired it just wide. The Foxes would start the second with 1:02 of power play time. 

The second period it was all Dragons. Donovan Frias buried one in front early in the period. Assist went to Anson Parker. 2006 Troy Hayes jammed home a rebound soon as Julian Frias (Yale) drove the net and created a loose puck. Secondary assist to Donovan Frias. With 4:43 left, Hayes shot another rebound home with the assist to the Julian Frias. The Hayes, Frias, Frias line was not done. With 30 seconds left, Donovan Frias took a crisp pass from his brother on a 2v1 and popped another home. It was 4-0 after two periods as St. George’s looked to be in full control. 

The third period Roxbury Latin showed no quit as St. George’s got pucks deep and let the clock tick. With 3:40 left, Julian Frias created a turnover that Donovan Frias jumped on, separated and scored on the breakaway. It was as 5-0 St. George’s. DellaRusso, who was tested at times made two terrific saves in the last minute to preserve the shutout. It was a 5-0 win for the Dragons.

St George’s moves to 11-4-4 with the win. They play at Tabor on Friday. Roxbury Latin falls to 3-10-2 as the next host Brooks at home on Saturday.
