Loomis Chaffee Shuts Out Cushing in Large School Finals

Cushing and Loomis faced off against eachother January 25th this season and skated to a 1-1 tie; this was a rematch game for the NE Prep Large School Finals.

It was a close hockey game with both teams exchanging chances but only one goal was scored in the first 53 minutes of the game which came mid-first period when Oliver Flynn carried the puck to the net and got a low shot on net which was rebounded by Cody Hoban for the go ahead goal.

The game would be back and forth action with Cushing having some grade A chances but just couldn’t finish off the drives and Loomis closed out the game with an empty netter by Thomas Costello. Both teams played a structured game, they were defensively sound and created plays but struggled to finish. The goaltending at both ends was excellent.

Three Stars of the Game:

1st Star: Kyle Chauvette, Loomis Chaffee

2nd Star: Cody Hoban, Loomis Chaffee

3rd Star: Jackson Irving, Cushing

Notes:

Both goalies were excellent today and Cushing was led by offensive defneseman Lukas Gustafson while Loomis got strong play out of big-bodied physical defender Kyle O’Connor and Jan Olenginski.

Both teams had good team speed and they both struggled to finish off rushes but it was a fast, high pace game that was fun to watch despite only 1 goal going in before the goalie was pulled.

Yes. We blew this one BIG TIME. Congrats again to Loomis.
