Nobles and St. Sebastian's Get All Tied Up

St Sebastian’s and Nobles came into Wednesday night’s battle both coming off wins. They looked to continue their success they have had thus far for the season. St. Sebastian’s is very good at home and looked add to that tonight against a surging Nobles squad.

Both teams started fast trading chances at both ends. Four minutes in St. Sebastian’s got the scoring started with a breakaway goal by 2003 Timmy Delay assisted by 2001 Connor JoyceAfter the goal the momentum swung in the Arrows’ direction, controlling the bulk of the play for the rest of the first period. The powerplay was a huge turning point late in the first as St. Sebastian’s tallied two more goals on the powerplay both by 2003 Brendan Gorman making it 3-0 to end the period. With no real push from Nobles at all in the first, they looked to change that around coming out in the Second.

Nobles started the second period off with a powerplay but could not capitalize after generating a few good chances off the rush. After both teams had matching minors, Nobles ended up getting a four on three and finally put one home to make it 3-1 off a tip. 2001 David Jacobs would get the goal off the shot pass by 2003 Aidan Lyons. After the goal, the last ten minutes were full of penalties on both sides creating chances on both ends to score goals. St Sebastian’s would extend their lead on a powerplay goal from 2001 Liam Connors, assisted by #14 2002 Brendan Dumas who continued to have a strong game on both ends. With five minutes remaining Nobles cut the lead in half to make it 4-2 on a one timer goal by 2001 Colby Bailey with a beautiful rink wide feed from 2003 Aidan Lyons

As the third period began Nobles controlled the bulk of the play as their top line was swarming the net to try and even the score, but to no avail. 2000 Luke Garrity made some big saves down the stretch for St Sebastian’s to keep it 4-2. With seven minutes remaining Brendan Dumas pulled away on a breakaway and was hauled down resulting in a penalty shot, he was not able to capitalize on for the Arrows. Nobles made it 4-3 with three minutes remaining on a goal by 2001 Casey Severo from 2001 Jack Cronin. After they pulled 2001 Marc Smith they pushed hard to get the equalizer and were rewarded with some hard work from 2002 Roman Tacelli who tied the game at 4-4.

The game would head to overtime with the momentum completely shifted in Nobles direction. With no real solid chances in overtime this game would end a 4-4.

Stars of the Game

First: Timmy Delay (St. Sebastian’s)

2nd star: David Jacobs (Nobles)

3rd star: Roman Tacelli (Nobles)

TTPA: Brendan Dumas (St Sebastan’s)

NZ Notes: For St. Sebastian’s; Brendan Dumas stirs the drink for the Arrows powerplay as he sits net front and jumps on loose pucks to keep the offense going. He’s extremely good on the walls and makes it tough for defenseman to steal the puck. Liam Connors is a similar player to Brendan by getting to pucks first and helping bang home rebounds in front of the net. He scored a big goal for the Arrows tonight to stretch their lead. For Nobles; Roman Tacelli had a really strong game in all three zones tonight. He’s extremely aware of every situation when on the ice. He made life tough for opposing defenseman late in the game when they were down a goal. He was able to find a loose puck and put one home after a really hard-working shift.
