Dedham, MA– The first of two ISL Keller match ups between the # 3 Lawrence Academy Spartans and #10 Noble & Greenough Bulldogs happened at Lane rink last night. Starting in goal for LA, JR Brandon Milberg (Thronhill, ON) and for Nobles, JR Marc Smith (Hanover, MA).

Assists from Ryan Stevens (Duxbury, MA) and Jack Cronin (Hamilton, MA). Just minutes later, LA answered the call with a John Riggins (Bethpage, NY) tip in front that got by Smith to knot it up 1-1. Assists coming from Kyle Furey (Marblehead, MA) and Connor Lovett (Franklin, MA). It did not take long for LA to jump back on the attack, Holt Oliphant (Northbrook, IL) put a low hard shot on net for rebound and Riggins potted his second of the game to give LA the 2-1 lead going into the first ice cut.
Just minutes into the second period, Riley Duran (Woburn, MA) poked the puck by the Nobles defender and slides it cross ice for a David Sacco (Middleton, MA) finish to make it 3-1 LA. The scoring did not stop, LA took advantage of a 5v3 power play. Sam Colangelo (Stoneham, MA) ripped home a one-timer from the top of the circle. Drew Bavaro (Bradenton, FL) and Braden Doyle (Lynnfield, MA) got credit for the assists. To close out the 2nd period, PC Commit Tyler Young (Lancaster, MA) put himself on the score sheet with a goal late in the 2nd, Bavaro and Sacco getting the helpers. End of 2, 5-1 LA.
The third period consisted of a lot of Lawrence Academy offense. UNH Commit Connor Sweeney (North Andover, MA) jammed home a dirty one in front of the net to increase the lead to 6-1. The highlight reel goal of the night came from Braden Doyle, toe dragging the defenseman on the rush and tucking it under the cross bar to make it 7-1. Colangelo gets his second of the night and closes out the LA scoring attack beating Nobles goalie Robbie Repeninng (Belmont, MA) who entered the game in the third period. In the closing moments, Nobles was able to get one late, David Jacobs (Needham, MA) went upstairs on Milberg to make it 8-2 and that was the final. 8-2, LA.
1st: David Sacco
2nd: Sam Colangelo
3rd: Braden Doyle
NZ Take: This was the best viewing of Lawrence yet this winter, there newcomers Riley Duran, David Sacco, Connor Lovett and Kyle Furey are really starting to turn the corner and contribute. Brandon Milberg has been good in between the pipes so far with 1.43 GAA and .940 %. Add this with the combination of upper classmen such as Sam Colangelo, Braden Doyle, Drew Bavaro, Connor Sweeney and Tyler Young, this group can have a very successful winter. This was a good win for them in the ISL Keller division, they get back at it with Thayer on Saturday night. Nobles looks to get back in the win column with a road trip to Middlesex on Friday night.
