Murray Nystrom

Nystrom joins Neutral Zone with over 20 years of Canadian university coaching experience. He was the head coach of Brock University between 1998 and 2017. Twice he was named Ontario University Hockey Conference Coach of the Year. In 2008 he was named Canadian University Hockey coach of the Year after leading Brock to it’s first ever appearance in the National Championships. He represented Canada at the 2005 World University Winter Games, in Innsbruck, Austria. He was an associate coach with the men’s hockey team. Nystrom spent the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons in western Canada leading the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. The Horns returned to playoffs in 2019 after a seven-year absence. Prior to his university positions, Nystrom was an assistant coach for the London Knights and Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League.  Nystrom holds a Master’s degree from Western University and Bachelor’s degree from University of New Brunswick.
