Mike grew up in Arlington MA and played high school hockey for Arlington High School.   He graduated from Merrimack College, but after an injury his freshman year, he stopped playing hockey and took an interest in coaching.  He coached Watertown High school boys hockey for 14 years.  As a head coach, Mike won Watertown High Schools’ first Massachusetts State Hockey Championship in 2015.  He was also awarded the Boston Globe coach of the year award.  After leaving Watertown he ended up back at Arlington High School, where he was the top assistant for the boys’ hockey team.  In the 5 years Mike was there, the team won its first 2 Super 8 titles and were league champions 4 years in a row.  Mike and his wife Nicole reside in Arlington, with their three kids.
