Former Head Coach NCAA

Brian Murphy was Neutral Zone’s very first hire almost 6 years ago. With over 30 years of experience around the game of hockey, Murphy brings a wealth of knowledge to the company and has greatly contributed to its growth from the ground up. Brian was a New England kid who played two years at Belmont Hill (alongside fellow Neutral Zone NHL director Ian Moran) before catching the eye of numerous college programs. Murphy would go on to join the Jumbos at Tufts University where he played four years and served as the captain in his senior season.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, he then returned to Tufts in pursuit of his Masters Degree in Education. Upon graduation in 1998, Murphy was given the opportunity to become assistant coach of his alma mater. After three years of being an assistant, Murphy was promoted to Head Coach where he would become the winningest coach in Tufts history over the next 18 seasons.

Given his coaching resume and vast experience in the hockey industry he quickly rose in the ranks at Neutral Zone from Massachusetts scout to Director of New England Scouting to Director of US Scouting. While he spends a lot of time on the road, he resides in Winchester, Massachusetts with his wife and three daughters.
