Steel Coach Brock Sheahan Hired by AHL’s Wolves

Brock Sheahan, head coach of the Chicago Steel in the USHL, has been hired as the next head coach of the Chicago Wolves in the AHL.

Sheahan is a Notre Dame alum who has been with the Steel since 2018. He was promoted to head coach in the middle of the 2019-20 season. Sheahan was originally a volunteer coach at Notre Dame and also served as an assistant with Holy Cross before he joined the Steel organization

The Steel are well equipped to handle a late change to the staff. Michael Garman, the team’s GM, was formerly on the bench as an associate head coach and the current associate coach is Matt Deschamps, who was an assistant at St. Lawrence and he coached in Europe before taking the Steel job.

The Steel have become one of the premiere franchises in the league. Last season, the team had seven NHL picks on the roster and the team went 39-13-9-1 to win the Eastern Conference.
