1st Period-The game started out with quality pace. The teams were not afraid to play the body from the drop of the puck. Both goalies, Anthony Zolezzi #50 (G, L, 6’0″, 165, Gentry Academy, 12/31/2004) and Kam Carlson #35 (G, L, 5’9″, 155, Woodbury HS, 11/13/2004) were a key part of the first period, stopping great scoring chances from both teams. A little past midway of the first period, Gentry Academy’s Reese Shaw #7 (F, R, 6’2″, 188, Gentry Academy, 02/28/2005) received a great pass from Barrett Hall #15 (F, L, 6’0″, 170, Gentry Academy, 12/29/2003) and fired the puck past the Woodbury goalie to put Gentry on the board first. Next, Kaden Milles #25 (F, R, 5’11”, 140, Gentry Academy, 01/16/2004) collected a pass from Brendon Hammer #9 (F, R, 5’11”, 180, Gentry Academy, 03/18/2005) and stayed with his own rebound for the score. Ethan Joshi #44 (F, L, 6’0″, 165, Gentry Academy, 02/18/2004) picked up an assist on the goal as well. Milles put the Gentry Academy Stars up 2-0 and that’s how the period ended. Shots for the first period were: Gentry Academy 9, Woodbury Royals 8

Second period -Gentry Academy Stars came back with high intensity and energy to start the second period. They had a great scoring opportunity early, only to be stopped by Woodbury goalie Kam Carlson. With the Stars rolling they were able to set up in the Royals zone, and with an aggressive forecheck and procession passing. At 1:53 of the second period, Wes Berg #19 (F, L, 5’9″, 150, Gentry Academy, 04/12/2005) put Gentry up 3-0 with the assists going to Barrett Hall and Reese Shaw. The Stars continued to control the second period with great puck movement and possession. About 8 minutes into the second period, Gentry would go on the power play. It only took the Stars a minute into the power play as Nathan Rickey #22 (D, R, 6’3″, 168, Gentry Academy, 11/23/2003) scored assisted by Barrett Hall (his third of the night.)

Woodbury would respond with a goal 30 seconds later. Macrae Gordon #24 (F, L, 5’10”, 167, Woodbury HS, 10/14/2003) lit the lamp assisted by Cole Erickson #4 (D, R, 6’0″, 190, Woodbury HS). After Woodbury’s goal Jackson Miller #19 (D, L, 6’3″, 174, Woodbury HS, 05/27/2004) helped keep the Stars at bay making key plays the rest second period. Joey Moeller #21 (F, R, 5’8″, 155, Woodbury HS, 01/01/2004) made great use of his speed to force Gentry up ice. It was 4-1 Gentry but Woodbury was still battling. Shots for the 2nd period were: Gentry Academy 12, Woodbury Royals 7

Third period- The Royals came out for the third ready to pick up where they left off in the second period. At the 1:44 mark, Joey Miller was able to dish a pass to Brayden Mishacoff #12 (F, R, 6’4″, 185, Woodbury HS) for a Woodbury goal. The play was started with a great pass from Niklas Olafson #9 (F, R, 6’0″, 166, Woodbury HS) The Royals and the Stars both had a few more good scoring chances in the third, however, as in the first period Kam Carlson (Woodbury) and Anthony Zolezzi (Gentry) had something to say about it. Both goalies made key stops throughout the final frame period to keep their teams in the game. The action packed, hard hitting third period was electric. Both teams had some big hits to try to gain an edge. Neither team gave an inch. Late in the period, with the hopes of keeping the Woodbury Royals season alive, the goalie was pulled. At 15:49 Wes Berg was able to flip the puck out of the Stars zone into the Royals’ net for his second goal of the night. Gentry held on for the 5-2 win. Great game played by both teams with a lot of effort and toughness. Shots for the 3rd period were: Gentry Academy 13, Woodbury Royals 7
