BCHL Experiments with Rule Changes

The BCHL will experiment with several possible rule changes during its 47-game exhibition slate, which kicked off this weekend. The rule changes which will be tested were put forth by the league’s Competition Committee and unanimously approved at a recent BCHL Board of Governors meeting.

Video Review

The league will begin to experiment with video review during the exhibition schedule and the video review will be in effect for the BCHL Showcase event next month.

Coach Review

As part of the video review process, coaches will be able to challenge certain plays during the exhibition season. Coaches can challenge (one per game) plays that lead to a goal. Criteria eligible for review include offside, goalie interference, the puck being directed out of play, a hand pass and a puck illegally hit with a high stick.
