Pastujov reportedly heading to the OHL

ESPN’s John Buccigross reported today that the Anaheim Ducks are going to sign Sasha Pastujov, and he’ll play in the OHL for this upcoming season.

Pastujov was set to become a freshman at Notre Dame next month. He was selected by the Ducks with the No. 66 overall pick in last month’s NHL Draft.

The Florida native is coming off a terrific season with the NTDP, where he appeared in 64 total games and finished with 45 goals and 54 assists for 99 points.

“In the offensive zone, he loves to find space on the backside where he will look to quickly rip wrist shots on the net or attempt to fire one-timers if his teammates can find him,” said NZ scouts. “He is a volume shooter and any time he is given the opportunity or lane to the net, Pastujov never hesitates to put a puck on the net. This was evident after he registered seven shots on the net in this game and likely had another five or so shots miss the net or get blocked. Pastujov is a goal scorer and puts volume on the net, always eager to take a shot lane if presented to him.”

The Guelph Storm currently own his OHL rights. Both of Pastujov’s brothers played college hockey at Michigan.
