NCAA: Gallagher chooses BU, plus commits for Holy Cross, Northeastern and UConn

‘02 (C) Joe Solimine commits to Holy Cross for 2022

Solimine is the first commit for new Holy Cross head coach Bill Riga. This past season he captained Northfield Mount Hermon and also played in 14 games for the Boston Jr. Bruins in the NCDC.

In 2019-20 Solimine recorded 42 points in 28 games for NMH. The Middleton, Mass. native played high school hockey at Central Catholic and Austin Prep before jumping to prep school.

NZ Scouts: “Solimine is a small, quick, shifty, high IQ forward who was the Conquistadors best offensive threat in this tournament. He’s creative and plays on instinct and compliments that with great pace and burst. He led his team with 4 goals and 4 assists; one score came from a quick deke in tight, another goal came of a quick release low snap shot goal off the rush but his best play was a give and go cross crease assist that he made a quick fake and dish for an easy tap in for his teammate. He’s undersized but has deceptive power from his snap shot and what made him so tough to play against here was that he can access all his offensive tools at top speed.”

‘03 (D) Joe Fleming commits to Northeastern for 2022

Fleming was set to play in the BCHL this season before the province forced the halt to the season due to COVID-19. In 2020-21 the Wellesley, Mass. native suited up for the Northern Cyclones in the NCHC and appeared in nine games while also playing for the North Suburban Wings 18U AAA program. Fleming spent one season at Proctor Academy.

NZ Scouts: “Big, bodied defender that moves well and has a jump in his step. He was active in all three zones. He wheels the puck up the ice and is tough to slow down once he gets moving. He sees the ice fairly well and made some nice cross-ice reads to open up space. Big shot from the point and does a good job moving to get open. Runs around a bit in his own zone and at times doesn’t manage the puck as well as he should. A creative player that pushes the pace offensively.”

(D) Jarrod Gourley commits to UConn out of the transfer portal

The former Arizona State defenseman appeared in 22 games last season and recorded four points. A native of Calgary, Gourley appeared in 90 games over three seasons with Arizona State and scored seven goals to go with 13 assists.

Prior to arriving in Tempe, Gourley was a standout in the AJHL for Spruce Grove. He was on the team that won the World Jr. A Challenge in 2018.

‘03 (D) Ty Gallagher commits to Boston University for 2021

The Michigan native is a prospect eligible for this year’s NHL Draft. Currently, he’s ranked No. 53 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting and as an overall draft pick his ranking ranges from No. 62-92 among various services.

Gallagher played 48 games for the U.S. NTDP this past season and finished with 27 points, including 14 goals from the blue line. He’s represented Team USA nationally at the U17 and U18 levels.

NZ Scouts: “Gallagher showed great poise and Hockey IQ in a number of different instances throughout the game. When possessing the puck under pressure, he makes smart decisions, spinning off forecheckers and moving the puck up the ice. Was also supporting half wall battles, getting pucks through to the net, and not forcing low percentage plays. “
