FREE: NCAA: LIU adds Welsh and Marrocco out of the transfer portal

LIU picked up a couple of players in the transfer portal. The Sharks added Yale forward Tyler Welsh and Arizona State forward PJ Marrocco.

Welsh did not play this season — Yale, and the rest of the Ivy League schools, opted out of the season — but he had 23 points in 32 games two seasons ago as a junior. He’ll be joining his brother, Nolan Welsh, at LIU.

Marrocco only had five points in 24 games this season, playing exclusively in the Big 10 with Arizona State, but two seasons ago as a sophomore, he had 21 points in 35 games, and that included 13 goals.

LIU also added RPI center Billy Jerry and Alaska-Anchorage goalie Kris Carlson. When UAA last played two seasons ago, Carlson had a 3.15 GAA and .907 save percentage in 21 starts. Jerry, who is 6-foot-4, had five points in 33 games for RPI two seasons ago.

North Dakota forward Harrison Blaisdell has entered the portal, according to Brad Schlossman. The Winnipeg Jets fifth-rounder appeared in 19 games for the Fight Hawks this season and had four assists.

North Dakota received a commitment from Bowling Green forward Connor Ford out of the portal. Ford was BGSU’s captain last season and had 28 points in 31 games for the Falcons. Over four seasons he has appeared in 148 games with 53 goals and 61 assists for 114 points.

Bentley landed Arizona State goalie Evan DeBrouwer in the portal. The 24-year-old was ASU’s primary starter two seasons ago and posted a 2.52 GAA and .919 save percentage; last year he appeared in 16 games and posted a 4.13 GAA and .888 save percentage.
