Colorado College part with head coach Mike Haviland

Colorado College posted a media release on its website Saturday night which announced that head coach Mike Haviland had decided to “move on” from his position. The release said that Haviland reached a mutual agreement with AD Lesley Irvine on Friday.

“We are thankful for Mike’s service and commitment to the student-athletes, program, and college hockey over the last seven years,” Irvine said in a release. “We wish him well as he transitions to future opportunities.”

Haviland went 67-153-22 as CC head coach. The Tigers went 4-17-2 this season and never finished above-.500 in Haviland’s tenure; CC’s best record under Haviland was in 2017-18, when the Tigers went 15-17-5.

Haviland joined CC from pro hockey. He was the head coach of the Hershey Bears (AHL) after serving as an assistant coach with the Chicago Blackhawks from 2008-12. CC was Haviland’s first college job.
