FREE: BCHL Season Still Suspended After Provincial Health Ruling

The BCHL was dealt a blow on Friday, when the provincial health office extended its restrictions on team activities. That means the league will have to remain on pause.

According to multiple reports, the league was planning on beginning games next week but will now look at starting a shortened season in March. The protocols in the province include restrictions on mass gatherings, team travel and events.

Instead of playing games, BCHL teams will be limited to on-ice skill sessions, which were laid out in the Phase 2 protocols.

“We are disappointed that we are once again forced to delay the 2020-21 regular season, but we support the PHO in their efforts to protect the health and safety of British Columbians,” said BCHL commissioner Chris Hebb. “We continue to work closely with the PHO on how we can safely resume play. This includes potential pods in select BCHL cities throughout the province.”
