The QMJHL announced today that all 18 teams will qualify for the postseason due to the scheduling impacts created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Realizing that teams will play an uneven number of games, the league will use points percentage to determine standings along with qualifying every team for the postseason.
The league said that the length of the playoff series will be determined at a later date. The quarterfinals will be split divisionally and the semifinals will be a round-robin featuring the three remaining teams.
The final will be played as a best-of-seven series. In the event of uncontrollable circumstances, the length of the final series may be reduced to a best-of-5 format, in which case the length of the final series must be determined before the start of the series.
