Inaugural LIU Game Postponed

Long Island was supposed to open its first men’s hockey season this weekend, but a scheduled game against Army has been postponed. Army, reportedly, is in the middle of a two-week shutdown due to COVID issues.

The game was also going to feature Army head coach Brian Riley against his nephew, Brett Riley, the LIU head coach.

This cancellation comes one day after the Ivy League announced the cancellation of all winter sports, including hockey. LIU’s next game on the schedule isn’t until Nov. 25 against Quinnipiac. Army is scheduled to play next weekend in a home-and-home against Holy Cross, but if the program is shut down for two weeks, those games could obviously be in jeopardy as well.
