USHL: Sioux City vs. Sioux Falls

Neutral Zone was watching online as the Sioux City Musketeers took on the Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday, October 30th. The first period was well contested on both sides with each time struggling to produce any real offense. The two sides did a good job of clogging the neutral zone and middle of the ice, which resulted in a rather ugly period. Things opened up much more in the second as Sioux Falls struck on the powerplay early in the frame. Sioux Falls carried the play after the goal and put pressure on Sioux City, generating quality offensive zone time. However, a little over five minutes later Sioux City was able to push back and even the score at one. From here Sioux City picked up momentum and took the play back to Sioux Falls as the two teams fought for an advantage. The third period was highly contested, despite the lopsided shots for the period, as both teams played solid hockey, each generating chances. Sioux Falls scored a goal just over five minutes into the period and held on for the majority of the frame. Sioux City put pressure on late in the period and started funneling pucks to the net, eventually tying the score up with just under five minutes left. This took the game into overtime where Sioux City ended up prevailing and going home with a nice 3-2 victory over the Stampede.
