NCHC Potentially Opening in a Bubble

The NCHC could potentially open its season utilizing a hub city or bubble format utilized by the NBA and NHL according to Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald.

Omaha and Grand Forks have emerged as the two likely favorites (sources say Omaha is the likely destination). The games would be played between Thanksgiving and Christmas break, when the campuses and classes are already closed.

According to a NZ source, Omaha has the inside track in part because the University’s medical school is better equipped to handle the testing protocols the league will have in place once play begins.

According to Schlossman’s report, the teams would likely play 10 games over the three-week period they are in the bubble, and then they would return to campus in January where the rest of the season would be played out.
