Former Nobles forward Casey Severo announced on Friday that he has committed to Harvard. Severo did not detail when he will join the Crimson, and he was projected to likely end up in the USHL for the 2020-21 season.
Severo, 19, was originally committed to Merrimack College but decommitted last year. Last season at Nobles, Severo had 51 points in 27 games.
“The speedy forward has some burst and appears to be ready to make the jump to the USHL this upcoming season,” said NZ scouts. “He’s a smooth, balanced skater, he’s got soft, elusive stickhandling, vision to read the whole sheet and the creativity to make opponents miss in open ice. He has a quick release in tight spaces and can beat opponents 1v1 out of the corners. An opportunistic player he made several impressive passses with his puck placement and vision often with centering feeds for his teammates to skate into. He was also incredibly effective on the forecheck as he took the right angles, had an active stick, and even threw his body into the mix if given the chance.”
Elsewhere, N.Y. native Tyler Wishart (’04) announced he will stay close to home for his college hockey, committing to Cornell.
“He can stop and start on a dime and his mobility and ability to make cuts make him tough to defend,” said our scouts. “He won almost every face-off and was setting the table for his teammates all game. He was not easily bounced off the puck and had clearly added strength. Athletic, fast and dangerous with possession, he is a DI prospect and a good one. He game is trending.”
Another player staying close to home is ’00 Kyle Kleven, who is a Moorhead, Minn. native who announced his commitment to Minnesota Duluth. Lat season Kleven had 53 points in 48 games for the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL.

“He competed hard and went to the dirty areas often,” said NZ scouts. “His stick skills and hockey sense allowed him to make plays while getting to the traffic areas. He was a constant contributor for his team in all situations on the ice.”
