Udd-Hellgren Commits to New England College

Amarillo (NAHL) forward Linus Udd-Hellgren has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for New England College.

“He is small and balanced,” our scouts said last season. “Played great on the power play where he appeared confident and prepared. Hellgren made some smart and accurate passes in zone and zipped the puck across the ice on the tape in the neutral zone. He played with his head up and sent a linemate in all alone against Johnstown. He will need to attack the net more as he seemed a bit one dimensional when we watched. He has puck skills and played with pace.”

Udd-Hellgren, 21, saw action in 24 games with the Bulls last season. Despite injuries, Udd-Hellgren still managed to make an impact in the games he did play. The 5’8/187 lbs. native of Gavle, Sweden was able to put up 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points while racking up 10 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.

Udd-Hellgren came to Amarillo after spending his entire hockey career as a part of the Brynas IF hockey club in Sweden. The number of college commitments from last year’s team set a team record. He is the 19th player from 2019-20 team to commit to playing college hockey.

“Despite the fact that I was injured for the most part of the 2019-20 season it was one of my best decisions I have ever made to move to Amarillo,” Udd-Hellgren said. “Amarillo helped me grow both on and off the ice and will be something I will never forget. I could not have asked for a better place to come to for my first year abroad, the best coaches, staff and community.

“New England College felt like the best choice for me to continue to grow as a person, student and as a hockey player. I have only heard great things about the school and the hockey program. I am very thankful and excited to spend my next 4 years at New England College.”
