Former Vermont head coach Kevin Sneddon has been named president and director of operations for ELEV802, a training facility in Essex, Vt. owned by two former UVM players, Torrey Mitchell and Peter Lenes.
“I am very fortunate to team up with two outstanding men in an effort to spread hockey knowledge and skills to as many young players as possible,” Sneddon said. “I am excited that I am back involved in hockey and look forward to this next chapter.”
Sneddon stepped down from UVM this past spring. A former Harvard player, he has been the head coach at Union and UVM, spending 17 years at the helm of the Catamount program.
ELEV802 offers on-ice skills as well as premiere strength and conditioning programs. The company is looking to expand nationwide, partnering with other former NHL players to open facilities in their home markets. In his role, Sneddon will oversee the business growth of the company and he will provide consulting services to coaches and players.
Mitchell is a former Vermont captain who played 13 years in professional hockey, including appearing in 666 games over 11 seasons in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings.
“We are so fortunate to have Kevin step in and help operate our brand as President and Director of Operations,” Mitchell said. “We need great hockey minds here as we look to expand our company across the nation, and Coach Sneddon’s experience and character is exactly what we are looking for at Elev802.”
Lenes was Mitchell’s teammate at UVM and succeeded him as one of the team’s captains. A Vermont native, he’s played professionally since his graduation in 2009, most recently for Kitzbuheler EC in Austria, where he has served as team captain for the last four seasons.
“As a business and on a personal note, I couldn’t be more jacked up about Kevin joining the Elev802 team,” Lenes said. “He brings so much experience and swag to us! This is going to rocket ship our brand to the next level.”
