UMass Boston Staff Put on Indefinite Furlough

Hockey writer Mark Divver reported on Wednesday night that the coaching staff at UMass Boston will be placed on indefinite furlough as of July 5, along with all coaching staffs at the school.

UMass Boston already announced that it will not hold classes in the fall, and instead will remain with remote learning. The school has canceled all fall athletics.

As we reported previously, Bowdoin has already canceled its fall athletic season and Williams College joined them recently as well.

Other Division III colleges have already called off all fall athletics, they include Mount Holyoke, Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, Renssalaer, Sarah Lawrence, Swarthmore, College of New Jersey, and Wellesley.

Of course, those cancellations could have a widespread effect on college hockey, which begins in October for Division I and in November for Division III.
