’99 F Graysen Cameron to Northland for 2020
Cameron suffered a broken back in the 2018 bus crash that claimed 16 lives and injured 13 more. Cameron returned to the team this season after missing all of the 2018-19 season and served as the team’s captain.
In 46 games with the Broncos this season, he scored five goals and added eight assists. He’s a hard-nosed forward amassing 128 penalty minutes.

’99 F Niclas Puikkonen to Canisius for 2020
The Stockholm native had a strong year for the Amarillo Bulls in the NAHL, scoring 12 goals and adding 32 assists in 54 games. This past season was his first season in North America, having previously plyed for Jokerit’s u20 team and Djurgardens in the SuperElit.
NZ Scouts on Puikkonen: “His stride is strong and he gets where he needs to get. Not a burner but reach and compete get him on pucks. The 1999 zipped passes all over the ice with accuracy and used his frame to extend possessiona and dish the puck. His play below the goal line was where he looked most comfortable as he worked the cycle and used the net to create around the cage. His reach, size and vision caused matchup issues in the zone His hands are soft and he can pick pucks off the wall.”
’99 F Matt Hobbs to Marian for 2020
Hobbs is an Ontario native who has put up 59 points over the last two seasons with the Burlington Cougars. Prior to the OJHL, Hobbs played two full seasons with the Welland Jr. Canadians in the GOJHL.
’99 F Michael Olszewski to SUNY-Potsdam for 2020
Olszewski is from Niagara Falls and has a strong season for the Cobourg Cougars in the OJHL this season, potting 18 goals and adding 10 assists in 52 games. He’s come up through the ranks in the GOJHL with the Buffalo Regals and Pelham Panthers and also spent time in the USPHL with the Buffalo Thunder and the NA3HL with the Niagara Falls PowerHawks.
’99 D Shawn Sloan to SUNY-Canton for 2020
Sloan is an agile defensemen from Ontario who our scouts said have flown under the radar. This season with the Smiths Falls Bears in the CCHL, Sloan scored three goals and eight assists in 53 games. Sloan was also in the CCHL last season with the Nepean Raiders, notching seven assists in 58 games.
Prior to the CCHL, Sloan played in the NOJHL with the Timmins Rock and the CCHL2 with the Whitewater Kings.
NZ Scouts on Sloan: “He’s an undersized, agile, puck possession defender with swift hands and touch on his passes. This was our first viewing of Sloan and we were impressed with his lateral movement, quickness and ability to shake off forecheckers and break pucks out of his end. He needs to get stronger and add more power to his shot to add an offensive element to his game.”
’99 F Cole O’Connell to Concordia for 2020
O’Connell is a Minnesota native who is coming off a 32-point season with the Minot Minotauros in the NAHL this season. Prior to his junior career, O’Connell was a standout for Moorhead High.
NZ Scouts on O’Connell: “Cole was quick down low and was able to get away from several checks. He has the stick skills in traffic to create his own shot and get pucks to the net. He saw the ice well and used his teammates by getting them the puck on their tape. Undersized player who is effective with this hockey sense and work ethic.”
’99 F Chris Morrison to Southern Maine for 2020
A native of Ridgefield, Conn., Morrison was at the Nichols School for prep hockey and then has split time between the USPHL, NCDC and EHL over the last few seasons. This season he has appeared in 29 EHL games for the Connecticut RoughRiders and New York Apple Core and also had nine points in 11 games for the Connecticut Jr. Rangers.
