WHL: Lethbridge Signs 2004-Born Defenseman

The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Wednesday that they have signed 2004-born defenseman Easton Kovacs to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.

Kovacs, 15, was undrafted in the WHL Bantam Draft. The product of Delta, British Columbia attended Hurricanes Rookie Camp in 2019 after being listed by the club. In 2019-2020, Kovacs appeared in 34 games with the Delta Hockey Academy Elite 15’s in the CSSHL where he accumulated 16 points (4g-12a) along with 39 penalty minutes. He finished third in team scoring among defenseman.

The 6’2, 170-pound defenseman added four penalty minutes in two post-season games. In 2018-2019, Kovacs suited up in 29 games with the Delta Hockey Academy’s Bantam Prep team in the CSSBHL where he collected 10 points (3g-7a) along with 51 penalty minutes. In three years at the Delta Hockey Academy, Kovacs appeared in 93 regular season games at various levels totaling 41 points (10g-31a) along with 124 penalty minutes.
