NCAA: Three Goalies Commit Out of NCAA Transfer Portal

Michigan Tech goaltender Robbie Beydoun entered the NCAA transfer portal a few weeks ago and announced over the weekend that he had committed to finish his college career at Wisconsin.

Beydoun has had three solid seasons at MTU, including a .919 save percentage and 2.32 GAA this season in five games. He appeared in 11 games as a freshman (.903, 2.63) and then 12 games as a sophomore (.931, 1.98) but was stuck behind (ironically) former Wisconsin goalie Matt Jurusik on the depth chart this season.

Wisconsin graduates Jack Berry and Johan Blomquist and returns sophomore Daniel Lebedeff, who started 26 games this season and posted a 3.56 GAA and an .892 save percentage.

Mercyhurst was another team in need of a goaltender, and the Lakers committed Bemidji State transfer Henry Johnson out of the transfer portal.

Johnson appeared in just four games this past season but played 14 games in 2018-19 as a sophomore, where he posted an impressive 1.96 GAA and a .916 save percentage.

Johnson will be competing for a spot alongside incoming freshmen Kyle McClellan and Matt Lenz. McClellan was ranked No. 46 in our Top-300 99’s report that was released last week; Lenz was ranked No. 214 in the same report.

Providence added Anton Martinsson from Alaska-Fairbanks. Martinsson appeared in 23 games this season and posted a 2.51 GAA and a .919 save percentage. Martinsson is from Sweden and he played for Rogle BK prior to joining Fairbanks. He also played two seasons in the NAHL with the Amarillo Bulls.

Martinsson will join the Friars roster along with Jaxson Stauber, who is a transfer from Minnesota State after leaving the program this past fall and finishing out ths year with the Sioux Falls Stampede.

Providence’s goaltending situation now includes these two netminders along with Gabe Mollot-Hill, Jimmy Scannell and Jake Kucharski.

All three goaltenders are graduate transfers and will be eligible to play in the 2020-21 season this fall.
