QMJHL: Selects Academy Conor Shortall Signs with Drummondville

The Drummondville Voltigeurs announced last week that they have signed 2003-born defenseman Conor Shortall, who spent last season playing New England prep hockey with the Selects Academy.

Shortall is a 5-foot-9 defender from Newfoundland. This past season he finished with 15 goals and 30 assists in 65 games for Selects 16U team. Prior to the Selects Academy, Shortall played at home for the East Coast Blizzard and the St. John’s Hitmen.

“A bulky defender listed at 5’10 180,” said our scouts. “He was able to use his size and strength in order to deliver big hits especially in open ice when challenged by incoming forwards. He plays bigger than his listed size but doesn’t go looking for his hits, they happen organically. He shows nice edge work in his own end with a sharp spin off the wall to avoid a forechecker. We also like his ability to turn the puck up ice and rush it himself with strong and clean strides.”
