Maine forward Tim Doherty will reportedly transfer to Penn State, according to a tweet from Mark Divver. Doherty is a Rhode Island native who led the Black Bears in scoring this past season, scoring 14 goals and adding 23 assists in 34 games.
Over his three years at Maine, Doherty has totaled 34 goals and 43 assists in 101 games. Prior to joining the Black Bears, Doherty played three seasons in the USPHL for the Boston Jr. Bruins and also was a standout forward for St. George’s School. Doherty was originally going to attend Brown but left before ever playing a game, and then ended up with the Black Bears.
“Tim is a goal scorer,” said our scouts, who evaluated Doherty during his junior career “He is a balanced player that seems to play the game with ease. He gets himself in great spots and has skills to make plays. He has soft hands and a very high hockey IQ.”
’99 F Michael Colella to Northern Michigan for 2020
Colella is a New Jersey native who has exploded offensively for the Trail Smoke Eaters in the BCHL this season. In 58 games, the 5-foot-8 forward has 27 goals and 41 assists. This was on the heels of him jumping around to four different teams in 2018-19, spread across the NCDC and USHL.
“Good heady playmaker,” said our scouts. “Made crisp passes and cause problems in transition and off rush. Excelled carrying the puck into offensive zone, using vision and patience, finding open teammate or shooting. Great speed and causes problem on forecheck with good angles.”
’99 G Jack Grant to Hamilton for 2020
Grant is a New Brunswick native who has a .919 save percentage and a 2.60 GAA in 43 games for the Fredericton Red Wings in the MJAHL this season. Grant also had a season of experience in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals last season.
“Jack seems to have a knack for playing the puck with confidence and intelligence,” scouts said. “Putting pucks to safe areas or to sticks is a valuable asset in a team that seems to struggle getting back to pucks quickly. I think with some work on using his feet to get to position quicker and more efficient Jack could see an improvement in his game.”
’99 F Tommy Condon to Worcester State for 2020
Condon is a New York native who has been with the New England Wolves in the EHL the last two seasons. Prior to joining the Wolves, Condon spent a two seasons with the P.A.L. Junior Islanders.
This season Condon has 15 goals and 16 assists in 44 games; in two seasons Condon has posted 34 goals and 25 assists.
“His game is two-pronged and thus versatile,” said NZ scouts. “He has a nice frame and was tough to play against. Our notes say “JYD”; which means junk yard dog. It’s a compliment as he played with some snarl and was relentless on the puck. If opponents had a bad first touch, Tommy was usually right there to steal the puck.”
’99 F Ryan Gaulin to Endicott for 2020
Gaulin is from Kingston, N.H. and he played at Berwick Academy before he joined up with the P.A.L. Junior Islanders in the NCDC last season (Gaulin also has a younger brother, 2001-born Tyler Gaulin, who is currently at Berwick).
In 49 games for the Islanders this season, Gaulin has 21 goald and 25 assists. Last season be played with both the Jr. Islanders and the Islanders Hockey Club, where he totaled 11 goals and 11 assists in 43 games.
“His forecheck is fast and with a purpose as he forces opponents into bad spots and to his help,” said scouts. “His stick is quick and he was able to create turnovers. We liked that he went in attack mode on turnovers and started right towards the net. He is skilled, fast and played well in every situation.”
’99 G Dysen Skinner to Wisconsin River-Falls for 2020
Skinner is from Billings, Montana. He has played 37 games this season split between the North Iowa Bulls (NA3HL) and the Minnesota Magicians (NAHL). With the Bulls Skinner posted a .929 save percentage and a 1.82 GAA and with the Magicians he has a .914 save percentage and a 2.86 GAA.
’99 F T.J. Sagissor to Wisconsin Eau Claire for 2020
Sagissor has some upside. This season he was named to the NAHL’s Top Prospects game after scoring 30 points in 49 games for the Minnesota Magicians.
Sagissor is in his second season in the NAHL, splitting last season between the Magicians and the Janesville Jets. In 2017-18 he played a season with the Madison Capitols in the USHL and he was a standout forward for Stillwater High in Minnesota.
“We are excited for TJ and his next step in his career. He has battled for many years to give himself an opportunity to play four more years of competitive hockey. We wish him luck,” said Magicians head coach AJ Bucchino.
’99 F Anthony Bilka to Marian for 2020
Bilka is a Texas native who came up through the Dallas Stars youth organization. In 2018 he played a handful of games for Lone Star in the NAHL and then moved to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in the MJHL, where he has spent the majority of the last two seasons.
This year for the Wolverines, he has 41 points (17 goals, 24 assists) in 60 games.
“Bilka showed his elite speed and puck handling ability again in this performance,” said scouts. “He has great power on his strides and good edgework which makes him likely to create scoring opportunities on the rush and off of regroups.”
