2001-born forward Will Forrest (see profile for star rating) has committed to Bowdoin for next season.
Forrest, a Connecticut native, played three varsity seasons at Ridgefield High in Ridgefield, Conn., his hometown, and this season played for the Brunswick School in Connecticut.
This season, Forrest had 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) in 31 games for Brunswick.
Last season at Ridgefield, Forrest was named CHSCA All-State First Team after scoring 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists) in 23 games. In his high school career, Forrest had 117 points (50 goals, 67 assists) in 73 games.
Forrest also played for the Southern Stars in the EJEPL last season, where he scored 40 points (22 goals, 18 assists) in 10 games.
“He’s big, strong and has a lot of upside,” said our scouts.
Keanan Stewart committed to Mercyhurst today. A hulking forward at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, Stewart is having a breakout season for the Burlington Cougars in the OJHL this season. Stewart has 30 goals and 22 assists in 54 games.
Stewart was named in our Top-170 at the OJHL Showcase this fall.
“This big forward has a mean streak to his game, and is your prototypical checker who can score,” our scouts said. “He is looking to be physical on both the forecheck and backcheck where we witnessed him hammering guys both ways. He has good IQ and was smart with his passes and shots on the powerplay.”
UW-Stout added forward Andrue Trelstad, a 99-born forward from Minnesota. Like Stewart, Trelstad stands 6-foot-3 and he uses his powerful frame to his advantage.
After playing for Chisago Lakes High in Minnesota, Trelstad went on to play for the Minnesota Mullets (USPHL) before he arrived in Texas to play for the Jr. Brahmas the last two seasons in the NA3HL. This season, Trelstad has 61 points (22 goals, 39 assists) in 43 games and he has 101 points in 87 games over the course of his NA3HL career.
Stonehill landed defenseman Drew Gardner from the Twin City Thunder in the NCDC. Gardner is a Maine native who has 11 points in 45 games on the blue line this season. Prior to Twin City, the 6-foot-2 Gardner played for the Kents Hill School.
We had Gardner tanked in the Top-50 of the NCDC Winter Showcase in January.
“The former Kents Hill Prep defenseman was efficient with and without the puck,” said our souts. “Strong skater with the frame to be physical and clear the front of the net. Long reach prevented attackers from getting inside and eliminating scoring chances. Solid two-way defenseman who can log minutes.”
