WHL U.S. Challenge Cup Taking Place This Weekend

The inaugural WHL U.S. Challenge Cup is taking place starting on Thursday in Kent, Washington. The tournament, which will consist of Bantam AAA teams, features 12 of the top-ranked teams from the Western U.S. and Canada.

Beginning on Friday, each team will play in a three-game round-robin schedule. The games will be hosted at the ShoWare Center, home of the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, as well as the Kent Valley Ice Centre.

After the round-robin teams will be ranked from 1-12 for the final placement games on Sunday, with the championship being held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at ShoWare Center.

All players participating in the tournament will get information on the WHL experience and will also attend the Thunderbirds game against the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday night.

The teams scheduled to play in the event include the Dallas Stars Elite, Delta Hockey Academy, Greater Vancouver Canadiens, Los Angeles Jr. Kings, Okanagan Rockets, Phoenix Jr. Coyotes, San Diego Saints, San Jose Jr. Sharks, Seattle Junior 14U Admirals, Team Alaska 14U, West Van Warriors and Yale Academy.
