NCAA Commits: RIT Lands Ontario Goaltender Daniel Chenard

Ontario goaltender Daniel Chenard committed to RIT. The 3.75-star goaltender has a 2.97 GAA and an .892 save percentage in 10 games with the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) this season. Last season Chenard played for the Chilliwack Chiefs, where he had a 2.70 GAA and a .913 save percentage in 18 games.

“I think that Daniel has good abilities to absorb pucks and keep the pace of the game within his own reach,” said our scouts. “He has a very good stick and active hands which allow his rebounds to get to soft areas or out of play for the most part. … I think that Daniel does have a lot of upside to his game and he battles for pucks hard.”

Prior to playing in the BCHL, Chenard suited up for the Caledonia Corvairs in the GOJHL and played midget hockey with the Kitchener Jr. Rangers. In 2018, Chenard posted a 1.77 GAA and a .937 save percentage for Chilliwack at the RBC Cup; he’s slated to arrive in Rochester next fall.

Colgate picked up a verbal commitment from 3.75-star forward Levi Glasman. An Alberta native, Glasman has extensive experience in the BCHL, where he’s playing this season for the Powell River Kings. Through his first 15 games, Glasman has 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists). Glasman has been a point-per-game player since his 18-year-old year in the BCHL, putting up 52 points in 53 games with Trail in 2017-18 and then 63 points in 58 combined games last season between Trail and Powell River. Glasman is projected as a 2020 recruit for the Raiders.

Air Force received a 2021 verbal commitment from Minnesota forward Chase Freiermuth. A 2001, Freiermuth will captain Hastings High this season and he’s also playing for Team CCM. Last season Freiermuth scored 21 goals in 24 games for Hastings and also put up six points in two playoff games.
