Vaughan Kings Vs. Toronto Young Nationals – 1/22/18

Game: Vaughan Kings vs Toronto Young Nationals

League: GTHL Bantam

Date: January 22, 2018

Arena: Westwood

Description: The Young Nationals won this one 5-0 after a three-goal first period. Overall the Kings were outmatched, and they didn’t have many shots on net. The Young Nationals have a handful of big, skilled, aggressive players which is a big reason why they are a second-place team. The Kings are fighting for a playoff spot, and only a couple players stood out for them tonight.

VAUGHAN KINGS

Ethan Esposito #91 (F, L, 5’10”, 141lbs, 2003)- Esposito, who has been called up to minor midget a handful of times, is the team’s best player. Has a good overall game working hard in both ends. He looked to play the body when the opportunity was there and took some good angles when defending on the PK. Offensively he doesn’t have much help, but he made a couple individual rushes showing good speed and shiftiness. Esposito has the ability to be elusive and make defenders miss. He kept good puck control tonight, displaying nice hands while making moves on the rush. Esposito will be a player to watch moving into minor midget next season. Grade: B+

William Smith #8 (D, L, 2003)- Smith is an undersized defenseman that plays a smart all-around game. Smith was only on the ice for one goal against tonight, and the goal wasn’t his fault. He does a nice job of boxing out and picking up the right man in his D-zone. The 2003 tries to play the body even though he is undersized, and we didn’t see him get beat one on one tonight. Smith showed some decent poise with the puck while trying to find good outlets out of the D-zone and made one rush showing smooth hands and shifty footwork. Grade: B
