Ice hockey at Saint John's has a storied tradition. The school maintains four levels: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman, and Middle School. All teams compete in the Catholic Conference against top ranked Division 1 high school hockey programs. In conjunction with the School's mission, the Pioneer hockey staff attempts to foster the development of all its team members by providing a solid foundation of coaching and high-level competition to give its players the necessary skills to achieve their full potential on and off the ice. Many alumni of the Saint John's hockey family have gone on to attend, play, and coach at the college level.

The Pioneers have appeared in seven State Finals and eight D1A ( Super 8) tournaments. Saint John's has won two Division 1 State Championships...in 1999 and 2004.
