Braintree and Milton skate to 3-3 tie

Randolph, MA – In a Wednesday matinee matchup, Braintree and Milton locked horns at the Zapustas Arena in Randolph and we were able to tune in via LiveBarn to catch the action. This game was played in two 22:30 halves.

The Wamps and Wildcats spent the first few minutes of the period ramping up their pace and exchanging chances. Braintree began to create some zone time as the period progressed. Sophomore Nolan Leonard found a soft spot in the Wildcat defense and was fed by junior Scott Lagos to give Braintree a 1-0 lead with a wrister that beat the sprawling Ryan Dexter at 16:30 in the first half. Braintree struck again three minutes later as senior defenseman Brendan Keegan wheeled into the zone and hit sophomore Charlie Dimartino in the slot who found twine on a quick release to make it 2-0 Braintree. Milton capitalized on an opportunity with 10 minutes left in the first half to make it a one-goal game. Junior Eoin Flaherty picked up the puck behind the net and jammed it into the goalie on the short side. The puck was loose underneath Braintree senior Ben Sullivan and Flaherty jammed it in to make it 2-1. Braintree responded shortly after and tallied a power play goal where Brendan Keegan shot for a rebound and Dimartino put that very rebound in from the goal line. Milton would have an opportunity to answer on the power play later, but could not capitalize. The first half would end with Braintree leading 3-1.

Milton came out with pace in the second half. They wasted no time and answered on the scoreboard. Senior Luke Calcagno wheeled into the zone and fed a puck net front. It found junior Owen Radley who slid the puck through the five-hole to make it a one-goal game once again. Braintree would have multiple chances on the power play throughout the second half but they could not capitalize. Milton generated some nice chances off the rush throughout the second half too. With 3:37 left in the second half, a good Milton forecheck forced a turnover to the defenseman Calcagno on the line who fired a puck on net and found the back of the net. The last three minutes provided chances for both teams to get the game-winner, but neither team was able to bury it. The game would end in a 3-3 tie between the Wamps and Wildcats.
