Marlboro Dispatches Shrewsbury 5-3

Marlboro, MA: The line of Matt Farrell, Sam Miele and Ben Hamann capitalized early and often in the first half, spotting Marlboro a 2-0 lead, while Marcus Chrisafedies closed the game with two lasers from the slot for a 5-3 win.  Shrewsbury stepped on the ice for the first time tonight, and it showed in the first 22 minutes.  The Colonials had their chances, but were off early in the contest.

Chris Allain changed the momentum to start the second half, scoring on a nice individual effort followed by the equalizer a few minutes later making it a 14 minute game.  The Panthers wasted no time as their top line cashed in a gain less than 30 seconds after Allain had tied it as Farrell found Hamann at the top of the crease, and he made no mistake.  Chrisafedies buried the next two before Allain completed his hat trick with under two to play.  The Colonials pulled their netminder, but couldn’t beat Marlboro’s Billy McCarthy, who turned in a strong effort between the pipes.  Junior defenseman Collin Tunnera chipped in with two assists while anchoring the Panther blue line.
