Catholic Memorial Opens Season with Blowout Win

Brighton, MA- Catholic Memorial opened up its season with a decisive 15-0 win over Matignon at Warrior Ice Arena. The Knights were not challenged from the puck drop as Zach Callahan scored thirty-five seconds into the game (his first of two goals on the evening). The Knights used all three goalies this afternoon combing for the shutout. Matignon goaltending was under siege all evening stopping forty-four of fifty-nine shots for the Warriors.

The Knights are poised for a strong season with speed, skill, and physicality. CM has a talented back-end which will pay dividends as the season moves forward. CM has seven seniors that mix in well with the many juniors and seniors. Freshman Gavin Havens could be a big addition to the team as he continues to adjust to playing against older kids.

CM also has a good nucleus of young players. This evening, the Knights were led by sophomore forwards Jonny Nichols and Tommy Rooney who each had two goals and an assist in the win. Sophomore forward Ben Sarantopoulos had two goals in the win. Junior forward Mac Casper added a goal and two assists for Knights.
